What happened during your birth

Prompt response: My mom had a c-section for my birth. My parents drove to the hospital at around 4:00 a.m. I was born around 5:00 a.m on May 1st. The due date was May 9th, but I was a breech birth, so they needed to do a c-section. It was a smooth delivery with no issues. I opened my eyes immediately after being born.

Summary: We read two poems by William Blake and discussed it as a class. 

Reflection: I realized that birth can have both a scary and a good experience. I will make sure to be considerate of mothers and babies.

Prompt Response: I believed that I would always be friends with my first best friend. We were best friends for around seven years before we stopped being friends. I realized that we had grown apart and that there wasn't anything I could do about it. I realized that overtime you meet new people and lose your old friends, and that is just how life goes. Everyone needs to move on. Summary: We read more of The Color Purple and wrote a poem. Reflection: I realized that women have always been fighting for more freedom. I will use this to continue fighting for women's rights.

As Celie’s world expands in these letters, she begins noticing new things about the people in her life. Write about a moment when you suddenly noticed something funny, shocking, or unexpected about someone you see every day (a family member, a classmate, or even a teacher). How did that new discovery change the way you saw them?

Prompt Response: I recently realized that my boyfriend always said crud and terribly. I thought it was really funny because I had never heard anyone else say it as much as him. When I realized this, I found out that we had really grown closer. It was nice to know that we had come to know each other better after several years. It was also a testament to our bond. Summary: We did a writable assignment on The Color Purple.  Reflection: I learned that there are many different ways to read one story. I will use this to look at one story from several points of view.
